The project “Mental Health” focuses on young people who have been mentally affected by the pandemic. It aims to raise awareness of this group of people and the supporting role of their community. During the exchange, young people worked together to study the impact of the pandemic on the mental health of young people and any concerns about their future in various aspects of their social, educational and professional lives.
Another aspect that was analyzed in the project is the relationship between people’s mental health and the overall well-being of the community. Therefore, some cases were discussed by the whole group so that they could brainstorm and generate new, more effective ideas for the benefit of these people.
Participants recognized the short-term and long-term effects of the pandemic, including increased number of cases of depression. Then they proposed their own solutions and shared their own reflections on topics related to mental health. Participants had many opportunities to learn the art of presentation. The summary was to make a few-minute-long video together!
The participating group of young people came from different European countries, which will allow us to explore the essence of the problem even better. They were young people who experienced or witnessed a mental breakdown during the COVID-19 pandemic, aged 18-28 and facing social, geographic and economic obstacles.
The project took place in Chania, Crete, Greece, with partners from Portugal, Latvia, Romania, Italy and Greece.
